The school year is winding down for Porters Chapel Academy, and the seniors are set to graduate May 9, including valedictorian Jordan Locke and salutatorian Wes Allison.

Locke, 17, said he started at Porters Chapel Academy in Kindergarten 4, but he was there before that for the school’s daycare program.

Locke played baseball, football, basketball and soccer for PCA, and he is a member of Key Club, 4H, Student Council, yearbook and National Honor Society and president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

“It’s definitely not easy to juggle everything,” he said. “Sometimes it conflicts. I work at Taco Casa, and I like to hunt and fish.”

Locke is also a member of the praise band at his church, Crossway.

Locke said he plans to attend the United States Air Force Academy Prep School in Colorado Springs, Colo. before attending the United States Air Force Academy.

“It’s a little easier going into the prep school first,” he said. “They ease you in.”

Locke said he would be taking a full load of classes on top of training at the prep school.

“You automatically graduate with a bachelor’s of science, but I want to do aeronautics,” he said. “I want to be a fighter pilot.”

Locke will finish his high school career with a 4.0 grade point average but said it was tough to keep it while going through Ms. Grant’s English class.

Locke said he would miss his classmates.

“I’ve made some good friends along the way,” he said. “I get along with everybody in my class.”

Allison, 17, has been attending Porters Chapel Academy since seventh grade, and he said it was competitive between him and Locke for a while.

“It took a lot of studying,” he said. “There were a lot of tests I had to pass to remain salutatorian.”

Allison played soccer for PCA and he was a member of Key Club, Student Council, National Honors Society and chaplain for Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

“Outside of school I play ultimate Frisbee on Tuesdays, I go to Scouts on Mondays, Wednesday nights I sing in the choir at my church,” he said.

Allison is an Eagle Scout, and he attends Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Allison will attend Louisiana Tech University in the fall where he will major in kinesiology and eventually become a clinical physical therapist.

Allison said he’s glad his high school career is over and he’s looking forward to college.

“I’m so ready,” he said. “It’s a new start with new people and new places to explore.”
