Clear Creek Ladies golf report

On Wednesday, Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association members enjoyed match play. Winners were Linda McHann in first place, Joyce Johnson in second, and Dinah Lazor in third. McHann logged the fewest putts, and McHann and Lazor made chip-ins.

VHS baseball tryouts

Tryouts for Vicksburg High’s baseball team will be held Thursday and Friday at the Showers Field practice field, from 4:15 to 6 p.m. each day. The tryouts are open to all Vicksburg High and Vicksburg Junior High students in grades 7-12.

Players should bring athletic pants and shirt, a glove, tennis shoes or cleats, a copy of their third nine weeks report card, and a current physical. Blue jeans or khakis are not allowed.

WC boys soccer tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s varsity boys soccer team will be held May 11 and 12, on the practice field adjacent to Mississippi 27. All participants must wear shin guards, have a current physical and a completed parental consent form.

Play 2 Wynn basketball camp

Former Vicksburg High star Donna Brown-Wynn will host her 13th annual annual Play 2 Wynn basketball camp June 1-5 at Vicksburg High School. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon each day, and is for boys and girls ages 6-17. The cost is $75 per person.

Red Cross Learn to Swim class

Registration for the American Red Cross “Learn to Swim” program will be held May 13-15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and May 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at City Pool.

The cost of each two-week session is $12, and classes are held Monday through Friday. All participants must be at least 5 years old at the beginning of the course.

The sessions will run from June 1-12, June 22-July 3, and July 13-24. Three classes, at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 5:45 p.m., will be held each day. Adult and preschool classes are at 5:45 p.m. only.

Hinds football camps

The Hinds Community College football program will host a 7-on-7 camp, as well as a camp for offensive and defensive linemen on the Raymond campus in June.

The linemen camp runs from June 22-24. Registration begins at noon on June 22. The cost of the camp is $150 for those registered by June 1, or $175 after that date. The 7-on-7 camp is a one-day session on June 25. beginning at 8:30 a.m. The cost of the camp is $200 for a team of 20 players, plus $25 for each additional player.
