A Vicksburg man involved in an early morning shootout last May that damaged two homes and two vehicles will stand trial in December.

Jimmy Lee Hill, 27, 313 Evergreen Drive, appeared in court Friday for arraignment after indictment this month by a Warren County grand jury for drive-by shooting, three counts of aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Hill entered a plea of not guilty, and Circuit Judge M. James Chaney set trial for Dec. 14.

Hill is accused of getting into a gunfight with Ellis Dewayne Wilson, Gary Lee Guise, Ambus Wallace and Justin Terrell Williams May 2, 2014 in the 700 block of First North Street.

Willson, Guise, Wallace, Williams, Elijah Qualls, Andre Che Allen are accused of returning fire and also shooting into a home in the 700 block of First North, according to the indictments against them. Each appeared in Warren County Circuit Court last week where they pleaded not guilty and trial dates were also set for Dec. 14.

Two other men are charged in the case but have not yet appeared in Circuit Court. Indictments are not made public until the suspect has been served with a copy of the paperwork charging them with a crime.

The shootout occurred just before 5 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, in front of 702 First North Street, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

At least three weapons and an unspecified number of shell casings were recovered at the crime scene. Indictments in the case say the men were armed with handguns but do not specify a caliber or make.
