LELAND — Willie L. Wilson of Greenville, formerly of Leland, died Friday, May 15, 2015, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was 73.

Mr. Wilson was born in 1941 in Brownsville, Tenn., and later moved to Hollandale, where was a member of Bethel AME Church.

He attended Simmons High School, graduating in 1960, and graduated from Mississippi Valley State University with a bachelor’s degree in English.

He taught in the Hazelhurst School District for two years before moving to the Vicksburg School District, where he remained for16 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. T.H. Bellamy; three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include one brother, Alex Wilson; a sister, Willie Mae Dewberry; a special friend and caregiver; a nephew; two godsons; and other nieces, nephews and other relative and friends.

Funeral services for will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Leland with the Rev. Archie Smith officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, and Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
