Hernandez, Travis win scramble at Clear Creek

Triston Hernandez and Trent Travis teamed up to shoot a two-round total of 120 to win the Bud Light 2-Man scramble Sunday at Clear Creek Golf Course.
The duo took a two-shot victory over the father-son combination of Daryle and Chris Whittington, and won by three shots over Judd Mims and Nick Mekus in the championship flight.
Dan Luke and Kevin Sills shot a 132 to win the first flight. Hunt Gilliland and Matt Bell were second, with a 133, and Joe Barnes and Wayne Rankin finished third after shooting 135.
The teams of John Caldwell and Barry Palmertree, Joe Grayson and Jeff Cowan, and Ottis Spurgen and Clark Lewis all shot 136 to tie for the second flight championship.
The third flight also had a tie, with Carl and Connor Smith finishing in a dead heat for first with James Slay and John Dietrick. Both teams shot 139. Jimmy and Robbie Stabler, and Doug Lee and Robert Carroll tied for third at 141.
The fourth flight was won by the tandem of John and David Smith, who shot 142. Hugh Hasty and Keith Ehrhardt finished second, with a 143. The teams of Sam Pace and James Cerda, and J.R. Golding and Ryno Martin-Nez tied for third place with a 146.
In the fifth flight, Cecil Jones and Henry Latham took top honors with a two-round total of 148. Beau Theobald and Charles Waring finished second, at 149, while Billy Joe and Robert Quimby came in third after shooting 152 over two days.
A total of 104 golfers divided into 52 two-man teams competed in the tournament, which is one of the biggest annual events held at Clear Creek.
