A Vicksburg man is dead following a shooting on Court Street Tuesday morning.
The man was found dead and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds when police arrived at 6:20 a.m. to a home in the 1600 block of Court Street, Vicksburg Police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Warren County Corner Doug Huskey identified the victim as Roy Brown, 46.
“We believe the shooting is domestic related, but have made no arrests at this time,” Williams said at 9 a.m.
An autopsy was to be performed Tuesday at the Mississippi State Crime Lab in Jackson.
The homicide is the third reported in Vicksburg this year.
Kathryn Peacock, 31, was stabbed to death outside her home at 1224 Grammar St., May 7. Derrick Ramone Hall, 34, 2200 Short Main St., was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in her death. Municipal Judge Toni Terrett declined to set bail for Hall.
No apparent motive for the killing has been released in that killing.
Jimmy Johnson, 32 of Talluah was shot and Feb. LD’s Restaurant and Lounge on Mulberry Street as police were on scene responding to another incident when shots were fired, Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong has said.
Johnson died about an hour later at what is now Merit Health River Region, Armstrong said.
Kentrell Williams, 22, also of Tallulah was arrested and charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm.
In May, Williams was arraigned after indictment by the Warren County grand jury, and Circuit Judge M. James Chaney set trial for Nov. 30.
The weapon believed to have been used in the killing was a Glock pistol, District Attorney Ricky Smith said. Williams was convicted in 2014 of illegal use of a weapon in Madison Parish, leading to a charge of possession of a weapon after felony conviction, according to court records.
