A Vicksburg man, believed to have assaulted another man’s wife, is dead, the husband is in jail and the wife is on the lam following a shooting Tuesday morning on Court Street.

Harold Lindsey, 58, 265 Red Oak Drive, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with murder in the shooting death of 46-year-old Roy Brown, Vicksburg Police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

An arrest warrant has also been issued for Lindsey’s wife, 32-year-old Crystal Owens Lindsey, but she had not been taken into custody as of Wednesday morning, Williams said.

“We believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic situation between Mrs. Lindsey and Roy Brown,” Williams said.

Police discovered Brown’s body in the front yard of a Court Street home at around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Warren County Corner Doug Huskey said Brown died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police believe Crystal Lindsey had been assaulted by Brown before calling her husband to the home on Court Street. Brown was “staying in the home from time to time,” Williams said.

It was unclear if Crystal Lindsey was living with her husband or with Brown at the time of the shooting.

Crystal Lindsey was last seen leaving the scene of the shooting with her husband, Williams said. Crystal Lindsey is described as a 5-foot-8-inch black female weighing 185 pounds.

“She should be considered armed and dangerous. We are aware that she has ties to the Baton Rouge area and it is a strong possibility that she may be in that area,” Williams said.

Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect. Callers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court.

The homicide is the third in Vicksburg this year.
