Bail was denied Thursday for two Warren County men accused of abducting a woman and throwing her from a moving vehicle.
Warren County Judge Johnny Price denied bail for Cory Michael Gibson, 37, 63 Gibson Road Circle and Sherwood Winston Lyons III, 39, no address available, after the two men were charged with kidnapping and attempted murder, Assistant District Attorney Bert Caraway said.
The two men were arrested based on a victim-based affidavit saying that they had abducted a woman and tried to kill her, Warren County Lt. Randy Lewis said.
“We got a report on June 29 from River Region’s ER that a female victim said she had been thrown from a vehicle,” Lewis said. “Detective Stacy Rollison went to and the victim said she had been abducted, taken down the road and thrown out of the vehicle.”
The woman was treated for injuries and released from Merit Health River Region Hospital, Lewis said.
Lyons was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for kidnapping and attempted murder, and Gibson was picked up Thursday morning before the two men appeared in court, Lewis said.
Sheriff Martin Pace said he would not rule out additional arrests in the case.
Both men will be held in the Warren County Jail until the cases against them are examined by a Warren County grand jury. The next term of the grand jury convenes later this month.
Attempted murder is punishable by 20 years to life in prison.
Four homicides have been reported this year in Vicksburg. No homicides have been reported in Warren County.
