John ‘Mike’ Collins

John “Mike” Collins died Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. He was 67.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, he retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service and also was formerly employed at Letourneau. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife Shirley B. Collins of Vicksburg; his daughter, Christy (Myk) Youmans of Vickburg; two brothers, Mark (Laura) Collins of Memphis and Kenneth King of Rayville, La.; two sisters, Donna Mary Hamby of Loxley, Ala. and Sharon (Rex) Phillippi of Bay Minette, Ala; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m Saturday, June 11, 2015 in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Clemts officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. in the Harris Cemetery in Crowville, La. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Christopher Phillippi, Cody McKown, Darron Kerr, Ty Kerr, Scott Fredrick and Davie Heldenbrand.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Pierce III and Leon Kerr.
