Denis Oliver Hogan

Denis Oliver Hogan passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. He was 54.
He was the eighth of nine children born to Thomas and Mary Ethel Hogan of the Culkin Community. He was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and a graduate of St. Aloysius High School, where he played football and baseball. He attended Delta State University on a football scholarship. Denis enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his nieces and nephews throughout his life. He was a master sheet metal worker and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local Union No. 406.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Joseph Hogan, Sr.; brother, Patrick Aloysius Hogan; a nephew, Thomas Martin “Marty” Hogan; grandparents, aunts, uncles and several cousins.
Survivors include his son, John Ryan Hogan; a daughter, Carrie Elizabeth McCalister; one grandson; his mother, Mary Ethel Hogan; five brothers, Tommy Hogan, Mike Hogan, Jerome Hogan, Martin Hogan, Phillip Hogan; two sisters, Marianne Hogan Nsour, Susan Hogan Schepens and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Lalor officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, July 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home and on Tuesday at 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Pallbearers will be Patrick J. Schepens, David E. Hogan, James L. “Jimmy” Halford, Richard Knox, Kenneth Reaves, Lawrence Ray.
