While battling out of the losers’ bracket, PCA beat Claiborne 10-9. Kaylee Hinson went 2-for-3 with two singles and two RBIs and Megan Hinson was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

PCA routed Riverdale 6-1 in its next game as Hannah Embry allowed two hits and two walks while striking out eight in four innings in the pitcher’s circle. Embry also had an RBI single at the plate.

In their third game Saturday, the Lady Eagles played their second consecutive error-free contest and beat Union Christian 7-1. Embry allowed one run in four innings — all tournament games were on a time limit — and also went 3-for-3 at the plate. Barwick was 2-for-2 with a double, triple and four RBIs.

PCA continued its hot streak by beating Franklin Academy 3-1. Laney Morgan pitched and allowed two hits and no walks in four innings. Barwick hit a walk-off, two-run double in the fourth inning after time had expired to give PCA the win.

PCA finally ran out of gas Saturday evening. Playing its fifth game of the day, it lost 8-0 to Riverfield to finish second in the tournament.

PCA will return to action Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal. Its home opener is scheduled for Aug. 10 against Amite School Center.
