Haley was arrested at 5:35 p.m. at DiamondJacks Casino on Washington Street and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, according to Warren County Jail records.

“This has been in the works for several months,” Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Warren County investigator Todd Dykes said when Haley was arrested he had several fraudulent pieces of identification including fake passports.

“We are afraid he is a flight risk,” Dykes told Jefferson during the initial court appearance.

Haley made no statements other than to answer routine questions and ask for a court-appointed attorney.

The case was investigated by the sheriff’s office, the Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children or ICAC Task Force, Louisiana State Police, and gaming commissions in both states. Investigators in both states discovered Haley had been visiting casinos over the past several months using aliases to rent rooms.

“It’s been a fairly complicated investigation because we were dealing with multiple jurisdictions and multiple identifies,” Pace said, noting Dykes is a member of the ICAC task force.

At the casino hotels, Haley used free Wi-Fi to download hundreds of images of children being sexually abused, Attorney General’s Office spokeswoman Rachel Ring said.

“The work with our office and ICAC agencies partnering with other state agencies should assure all child predators that we will catch them and put them behind bars no matter where they go,” Attorney General Jim Hood said. “I hope this arrest will serve as a warning to other criminals doing the same and they realize we will come after anyone downloading child porn in our state.”

The Louisiana and Mississippi gaming commissions obtained guest registries for the dates Haley is accused of downloading images at several hotels.  A comparison of the lists reveled Haley was consistently present as a guest on those dates, Ring said.

Haley checked into DiamondJacks in Vicksburg Wednesday and is accused of using the free Internet connection to download more images of child pornography, Ring said.

Agents from the ICAC Task Force and Warren County investigators raided his hotel room after determining he was checked into the hotel.

“Computers were previewed, finding many images of child pornography on his laptop computer, thumb drives and optical discs,” Ring said.

Images of child pornography were on Haley’s Dell laptop computer and a 4-gigabyte thumb drive, according to his arrest affidavit.

Haley was held Friday in the Warren County Jail.

If convicted, Haley faces up to 80 years in prison in Mississippi and must register as a sex offender. Each count of possession of child pornography carries a maximum sentence of life in prison in Louisiana.
