At long last, our magazine launches

Published 11:12 am Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Our family at The Vicksburg Post got a little larger Wednesday, adding another dose of excitement to an already busy time for the newspaper.

Just last week, the newspaper launched its new website, which, despite a few little hiccups, was amazingly well-received and has already helped lead to significant increases in readership.

Today, The Vicksburg Post is unveiling its newest publication Vicksburg Living.

This magazine, which will be produced six times each year, has long been in the works. Now, thanks to a very patient staff and business partners who have been even more patient, this magazine is now a reality.

When I moved to Vicksburg last September, I was told the staff had been working on this particular magazine project since that January, but due to one reason or another, one delay or another, the product simply had not been finalized.

Today, that nearly 17-month project is now off and running and we could not be more excited.

This magazine, as former Post managing editor Paul Barry said in his welcoming in the magazine, is created to “present a positive image of the most interesting an intriguing aspects of the characters, locations and quirks in Vicksburg that make our community so remarkable.”

And with that as the magazine’s mission, its focus, there is a good chance we will never run out of stories to tell.

The ultimate goal for us is to provide products and information our readers, our neighbors, can use and enjoy every single day. Whether it is the daily newspaper, our online products, our social media outlets and now our magazine, we seek to provide information, entertainment and celebrate this great community.

The magazine will be made available on a limited basis at The Post’s office and other locations around Vicksburg, while other copies are being mailed.

As you get a copy, please let us know what you think. This magazine — as with all of our other products — is for you and you can only help us make it better.

Enjoy.
