Bail was set at $2.25 million Tuesday for a man accused of raping a 72-year-old woman Saturday after breaking into her home on Mundy Street while bail for his accused accomplice was set at $660,000.
Municipal Judge Toni Terrett set the $2.25 million bail for Jacory Thomas, 20, who is charged with rape, sexual battery, kidnapping, armed robbery and home invasion.
“All of them are serious in nature,” Terrett said of the charges against Thomas. “The sentencing ranges from three years to live in prison.”
Thomas made no statements in court other than to ask for a court appointed attorney.
Terrett set $660,000 bail for Mark Carver Jr., 27, who is charged with credit card fraud, home invasion, and armed robbery.
Both men are also being held for Mississippi Department of Corrections warrants for probation violation.
“You will appear in circuit court on that particular warrant,” she told both men.
