John Clyde Conerly Sr., 84, of Vicksburg, passed away Sept. 27, 2015, at his home.

Born in Marion County, lived in Vicksburg for the past 58 years. He retired after 38 years with the railroad and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Conerly, and mother Rosa Mae Dunaway; wife Peggy Graves Conerly; brother R.W. Conerly; and sister, Claudia Mae Robertson.

He is survived by four sons, J.C. Conerly (Teri) of Vicksburg, David Conerly (Marianne) of Vicksburg, Mark Conerly (Leigh) of Vicksburg and Paul Conerly (Debra) of Vicksburg; two daughters, Nell Southall of Vicksburg andElaine Morris (Jim) of Clinton; two sisters, Mary Lou Brumfield of Foxworth and Arthur Mae Hartfield of Columbia; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Service will be Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at 10:30 am at the Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chase Conerly, Taylor Rowland, Don Rowland Jr., Michael Southall, Ferrel Brumfield, Darrell Brumfield and Jackie Hartfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and to Blair E. Baston Hospital.
