Still time to ship last minute gifts

The U.S. Postal Service deadline for all Standard Postal Service, which has come and gone, was Dec. 15, meaning if you slacked off on your holiday shopping, you’ll pay for it. However, there is still hope that your loved ones will get their Christmas presents by the 24th if you act soon.
Procrastinators have until Monday for Priority Mail Service and Wednesday for Priority Mail Express Service with the USPS.
Those without time to make it to a USPS branch are encouraged to schedule a package pickup via the office’s website. Fill out a form, and someone will be their to pick up your packages from your doorstep.
Local UPS store clerk Deborah Brooks previously said correct addresses, zip codes and names will help ensure packages arrive on time.
Deadlines offered through the UPS store for mailing packages at the last minute are Monday and Tuesday for 2nd Day Air and Wednesday for Next-Day Air Service.
There are some items not allowed for shipping, Brooks said.
“You cannot send batteries, firearms, liquids, nothing hazardous or alcohol,” she said.
The local UPS store is located at 3412 Pemberton Square Blvd. #2 and the hours are 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, call 601-634-8020.

The Vicksburg Post Office is located at 3415 Pemberton Square Blvd. and hours for operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
