Light morning snow in Vicksburg’s forecast

The dreaded “s” word has made its way into Vicksburg’s weather forecast.
John Elfer, director of Warren County Emergency Management, said, while a pop up thunderstorm can’t be ruled out here Thursday afternoon and into the night, the more severe weather is going to occur around Hattiesburg.
“We’re on the cold edge of the front. It won’t make 65 today,” Elfer said. At about noon, Vicksburg’s temperature was about 49 and dropping.
Elfer said dime-size hail fell during the morning in Redwood.
“At some point overnight, this is going to turn to some snow, but there will be little to no accumulation,” he said. “I don’t think we’ll have any weather-related problems tomorrow morning.”
The National Weather Service at Jackson said Warren County will get more rain tonight with new accumulations between half and three-quarters of an inch. On Friday, a chance of snow before 8 a.m., then a chance of light snow between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Otherwise, cloudy and cold with a high near 41. Snowfall accumulations are predicted to be less than a half an inch.
This weekend should be sunny and clear, but cold, according to the weather service.
