An abduction and assault reportedly occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning in Warren County.
A woman placed a 911 call just after 3:30 a.m. from a business on North Washington Street saying she had been abducted and assaulted while leaving her job located in the 2700 block of Sherman Avenue, Warren County Sherriff Martin Pace said.
The woman said a male forced her into her own vehicle and then took the vehicle with her inside.
“The victim stated that a black male approached her as she was getting in her car and forced her in and drove off with her,” Pace said.
The woman was able to get away from the male when he stopped the vehicle near Ford subdivision. Pace said she then ran to the business she called authorities from.
“The suspect stopped the vehicle near Fords, and the victim got away from the suspect,” Pace said.
The vehicle was later found. Agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit are processing the vehicle along with other items found.
“Agents from the Mississippi Crime Lab are assisting sheriff’s investigators,” Pace said.
The woman was treated at Merit Health River Region Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
“If anyone has information please call the Warren County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers,” Pace said.
