Juvenile charged with possession

A Vicksburg juvenile accused of having marijuana and weapons was held in the juvenile detention center Monday.

A Vicksburg High School student was arrested Monday after officers were called to the school at 11:30 a.m. about a student having marijuana, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said. Upon investigation it was discovered the student had knives, bb guns and a locked rifle in his vehicle, she said.

The juvenile was charged with possession of a misdemeanor amount of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a minor, Williams said.

“Based on the investigation we did not find any information or evidence that the student had any intent to use the weapons on school property,” Williams said.

The matter will be dealt with in youth court, she said.

 

Auto burglary reported in city

Beverages and bags were missing Wednesday following a burglary reported Tuesday in Vicksburg.

At 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, alcoholic beverages and monogrammed shopping bags were reported stolen from a vehicle on the 200 block of Woodstock Place, Williams said.
