A new lunch option has come to town for those tired of eating the same meal and looking for something new and different in Vicksburg.

Nobie’s Food Truck, located near the corner of Haining Road and Port Terminal Circle, is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and owned by Michael and Natalie Noble and Jimmy and Stormy Deere.

The menu will change daily and weekly, but will consistently offer an entree, two sides, a roll, drink and dessert. Plate lunches are $10 even, tax included.

“Next Friday we’ll be doing fish and fries — fried fish and hushpuppies,” Stormy Deere said. “We’re going to try to make that a Friday tradition.”

The truck also offers short orders. Right now they are starting out with hamburgers and chips, but they hope to offer boiled peanuts, chicken strips and fries soon.

“We’re starting it out slowly so we can progress and get used to everything,” Natalie Noble said.

The location was chosen to give Port employees a place closer to work to eat lunch.

“We wanted to provide a place for the employees who work down on the harbor to eat at because they have limited lunch breaks and everything is so far out of reach for them,” Natalie Noble said.

Outside the truck there is a tent and once the weather warms up there will be tables and chairs under it for customers to eat their lunch outside.

“We just felt like there was a need out here on the harbor for all the guys working,” Stormy Deere said.

The truck opened Monday after the owners worked for three weeks to get the proper privilege license from the city and approval from the health department. The health department had to conduct an inspection to make sure the truck was up to code. Once the health department gave their approval, the city gave them a business license.

“You have to have a commissary. There is a lot of stuff to it,” Jimmy Deere said.

At this time they plan to keep the truck in the Haining Road area, but they might choose another location to set up at in the future.

“According to the health department we’ll definitely have to move it around,” Natalie Noble said. “We’ll probably stay up and down that road right now.”

Natalie Noble said her husband Michael bought the truck a few years ago to cook at birthday parties, festivals like the Sunflower River Blues Festival in Clarksdale and events like Chili for Children, the River City BBQ Challenge and the Carnaval de Mardi Gras and Gumbo Cook-off. Nobie’s has placed in many of the contests.

“We just wanted to make more use out of it,” Natalie Noble said. “My husband loves to cook.”

“Bring your appetite,” Stormy Deere said. “We’re cooking with love.”
