Vicksburg and Warren County are in the line of fire of what have the potential to be severe storms on Tuesday.

John Elfer, Warren County Emergency Management director, said forecasters have given notice of the potential of severe weather here.

“Heavy rain, hail and a few tornadoes are possible with this weather system,” he said. “Some strong tornadoes will be possible, especially south of I-20.”

Elfer said he encourages residents to review with their families their plans for staying safe during severe weather.

The storms are expected to arrive in the Warren County area at about noon to 6 p.m., he said.

“Probably by 3 p.m. we’ll see the peak of it,” Elfer said. “The southern part of Warren County is in the significant risk area. We can’t rule out a strong tornado, damaging winds and hail.”
