Vicksburg and Warren County dodged another weather bullet on Tuesday.

John Elfer, Warren County Emergency Management director, said no major damage was reported as a result of Tuesday’s storm.

“I think we had a couple of trees down and at one point yesterday afternoon we had about four streets flooded, but that’s it,” Elfer said. “I’m not aware of any power outages.”

Other areas of Mississippi and the Deep South weren’t as lucky. One person is reported to have died when a mobile home was destroyed in Purvis. A spokesman with the National Weather Service said at least seven tornadoes hit southeast Louisiana and southwest Mississippi. Two were killed in Convent, La., when the storm struck an RV park there.

In Pensacola, Fla., a possible tornado is being blamed for destroying 24 units of an apartment complex, but no injuries have been reported associated with it.

Elfer said the Vicksburg area is under a high wind advisory today until 6 p.m. Other than that, the area can count on at least several days of pleasant weather.

“It’s going to be a nice weekend with highs in the 60s and 70s,” he said.

Tuesday’s storm deposited 1.32 inches of rainfall here.
