A bullet struck a man attempting to apprehend two alleged armed robbers Thursday night in Vicksburg.

Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, an armed robbery was reported on the 700 block of First North St., Vicksburg Police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

The person who reported being robbed to police also stopped Mack Thomas in his vehicle and asked him for help, Williams said. Thomas followed the two suspects, and one shot at Thomas’ vehicle striking him in the right ear, Williams said.

Thomas was transported to Merit Health River Region Medical Center and then sent to University of Mississippi Medical Center. He has been released from the hospital.

The case is still under investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
