Charlotte Crew

Charlotte Crew, age 70, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 7, 2016, at her home.

Charlotte was born April 16, 1945, in Port Gibson. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Texas, and loved spending time bowling and shopping.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Eugene Crew; grandson, Troy Ellis Tillotson; sister, Claudette Smith; and her parents.

After high school, Charlotte moved to Vicksburg and attended cosmetology school. After graduation, she went to work for Lottie’s Beauty Salon. She worked there until she met Troy Eugene Crew.

She was an avid bowler and played on a team. It was at the Holiday Lanes bowling alley that she and Troy met.

Charlotte was a fantastic cook and enjoyed cooking for large family gatherings. Some of her favorite dishes were fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, cherry cream pie and German chocolate cake.

She is survived by an son, Scott Crew and wife Melissa of Texarkana, Texas; stepson, Tony Crew and wife Tammy of Mars Hill, N. C.; stepdaughter, Lisa Crew of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; a brother, Steve Shankle of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Greenlawn Gardens under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
