Two juveniles are being held in the Warren County Detention Center in connection with a shooting that occurred Tuesday in Vicksburg.
At 11:52 p.m. Tuesday, a shooting was reported in the area of Signal Hill and Cairo Drive, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
A bullet ricocheted off a nearby vehicle and grazed a 14-year-old across the face. The juvenile was treated and released from Merit Health River Region Medical Center, Williams said.
Two 17-year-olds turned themselves in to the Vicksburg Police Department at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and were charged with aggravated assault and drive by shooting, Williams said.
Stemming from the same incident, Norman Warren, 20, was also arrested and charged with discharging a firearm in the city limits. He is being held in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility.
“We do expect additional arrests,” Williams said, adding the incident is still under investigation.
In a separate incident, a Warren County man has been charged in a weekend shooting that injured one juvenile in Vicksburg.
Michael Jones, 21, 121 Lee Circle, was arrested at 11 p.m. Tuesday and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, Williams said. He was found hiding beneath a bed in a house on the 100 block of Elizabeth Circle, Williams said.
His bond has been set at $50,000, she said.
“It was determined he was responsible for firing the shots that caused the young girl to be cut by glass,” Williams said.
The shooting was reported at approximately 9:45 p.m. Saturday in the area of Elizabeth Circle and Alcorn Drive. Williams said a 15-year-old girl was in a vehicle when shots were fired into the vehicle, which broke the glass and cut her leg.
She was taken to Merit Health River Region Medical Center, where she was treated and released, Williams said.
