A Warren County husband and wife were found dead Saturday night in an apparent murder-suicide.

At 8:40 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a call of two people shot in a home on the 200 block of Lakeside Drive, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

“An adult male and female appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds,” Pace said.

The investigation is still in the early stages, he said, but the scene appeared as though the deaths were a murder-suicide.

Pace would not release the names of the victims because not all of their family had been notified at press time.

“I went to school with her,” neighbor Seychan Lewis said. “I didn’t want to see this.”

Lewis said he was sleeping at the time of the incident and didn’t hear anything, but he felt very shaken up by the crime. Lewis said one of the woman’s sons found them in the home.

“I hate this for her kids,” he said.

Vicksburg Deputy Fire Chief Craig Danczyk said he lives in the next neighborhood over from Lakeside Drive.

“This is a peaceful area,” he said. “This is not something you typically see here.”
