WC volleyball clinches playoff spot

The Warren Central volleyball team is going back to the playoffs after Thursday night’s road win against Callaway.

The 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-13) victory clinched second place in Region 4-III for the Lady Vikes, who have an overall record of 10-8 and are 4-2 in region play.

Thursday night’s leading server was sophomore Laney Smith, with 18 serves and seven aces. The lead attacker was senior Brittany Craft with 11 kills.

Junior Sydney Stuart had 10 kills, and sophomore Emily Vandennieuboer had five kills and one block.

Taylor Smith recorded 14 assists, and Nikirah Bridges logged five assists.

Warren Central coach Matt Gullett said he rotated a lot of players throughout the match to get them more playing time. He said all four seniors played at some point during the night, including Coretta and Triona Watts.

WC will be back in action at home on Tuesday against Hartfield Academy.
