Bonnie Richardson Boyd

Bonnie Richardson Boyd was born in Vicksburg Aug. 19, 1954, to James Richardson and Johnnie Mae Richardson Hunt.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age at the Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of pastor Thomas Ray Sr.
Bonnie was a faithful and dutiful member of Gospel Temple and served as a member of the Ushers’ Board, Pastor’s Aid Club, Beautifying Club and the Citywide Ushers Ministry until she relocated. After relocation to Houston, Texas, Bonnie united with the Church Without Walls. There, she served in many capacities, including the Ushers Ministry, Angel Tree Ministry, Food Bank Ministry, Adventure Week (VBS) Ministry and Volunteer Ministry until her death.
Bonnie was a 1972 graduate of North Vicksburg High School. She also received a bachelor of science degree from Mississippi College in 1993. Bonnie united into holy matrimony to Narvel Boyd on Aug. 10, 1995.
Bonnie was formerly employed as a slot supervisor and slot administrator at Harrah’s Casino Hotel in Vicksburg, and Majestic Star Casino Hotel in Gary, Ind.
Bonnie also served as a volunteer for LV Hightower High School Pro Grad Programs, Houston Food Bank, Target Hunger of Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children (CASA) of Fort Bend, Texas.
Bonnie passed away at her home in Houston, Texas on Nov. 12, 2016. She was 62 years of age.
In addition to her husband and parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by grandparents, Ida Mae Turner Davis and Johnny Burnett Sr.
Bonnie leaves to cherish her memories her devoted stepson, Michael Slaughter of Vicksburg; stepfather, Elijah Hunt Sr. of Vicksburg, brother Elijah (Patricia) Hunt Jr. of Vicksburg, sisters, Ida Hunt of Buffalo, N.Y., Charlene Squire of Vicksburg, Carolyn (Rickey) Holden of Muskegon, Mich., Samantha Robinson of Missouri City, Texas, Paula Hunt of Euless, Texas, Donna Moore of Sugarland, Texas, and Cesia Hunt of Houston Texas; aunts, Lee Ethel Turner of Richmond, Calif. and Margaret Little of Meridian; nephews, Joseph Squire of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Adrian Jackson of Vicksburg; nieces, Brianna and Taylor Moore of Sugarland, Texas; a lifetime friend, Diane Wilson of Muskegon, Mich., and a host of other relatives including the Slaughter, Turner, Yancey, Burnett, Davis and Wilson, Coleman, Smith families.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Greater Grove Street M.B. Church with the Rev. Walter Edley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
