Dr. Albert Roy Stewart

DALEVILLE, Ala. — Dr. Albert Roy Stewart (major, US Army, ret.), a resident of Missouri City, Texas, formerly of Daleville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017. He was 73.
Funeral services will be 11a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 to11 a.m.
Dr. Stewart was born on June 26, 1943, in Vicksburg. He retired from the United States Army as a major in 1980. Dr. Stewart (known by many as “Brother Roy”) attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned a doctorate in pastoral ministries and Christian counseling.
Brother Roy served several churches during his 30-plus year ministry including Forest Hills (Haven of Grace) in Daleville, First Baptist Church of Level Plains in Enterprise, Ala., and Riverside Baptist Church in Riverside, La.
Dr. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Roy Stewart Sr. and Willie Ruth Elmore Stewart; his sisters, Pearline McBroom and Maxine Carlisle; his brothers, Jethro Carlisle and Billy Carlisle.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jaqueline Bounds Stewart; his son, Tim (Penny) Stewart; his daughter, Dr. Cynthia (Ron) Barkley; his grandchildren, Benjamin Barkley, Colby (Thomas) Law, Sydney Stewart and Megan Stewart; his great-grandchild, Camden Law; his brother, James (Janie) Stewart; his niece, Judy (Dan) McBroom-Swain; his cousin Shirley (Reggie) Stewart Farris, and many other extended family members.
