To the editor:

Many thanks to the scores of volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to volunteer for the Read Across America event: Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Read-A-Bration in the Vicksburg Warren School District.

It was exciting and inspiring to see so many individuals give of themselves to read to our young students. There were more than 150 volunteers in eight schools reading to children in pre-k through third grade classes. It just doesn’t get any better than that!

Thank you, Vicksburg, for your generosity, your kindness, your caring —your love — for our most precious resource: our future leaders, our future employees, our future business owners. Mark your calendars for March 2, 2018. We shall be calling on you again to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday in the best way possible — by reading!
