Paws Rescue golf tourney

Paws Rescue’s “Golf 4 Paws” charity golf tournament will be held April 21 at 9 a.m. at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina. The tournament is a four-person scramble, and the entry fee is $70 per person or $280 per team. In addition to the golf, a live and silent auction will be held, lunch will be provided and awards given.

All proceeds go toward rescue expenses for the animals in the care of Paws Rescue. Donations of cash, cat food and dog food are welcome at the tournament.

Kings basketball tourney

The Kings Empowerment Center will finish its Church League Basketball season with a double-elimination tournament Saturday, April 8. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., games start at 11, and admission is $3. Trophies will be awarded to the top two teams and an MVP will be named.

Bluz Cruz registration

Registration is now open for the 2017 Bluz Cruz kayak and canoe race. The 22-mile race on the Mississippi River is scheduled for April 8, and will begin at 9 a.m. at the Madison Parish Port. Shuttle service will be available to the port from the former Grand Station Casino parking lot in downtown Vicksburg. In addition, a mandatory safety meeting will be held prior to the race at 8:30 a.m. Boat portage services are not available.

The registration fee is $60, plus an additional $5 event membership for racers who are not members of the American Canoe Association. Early registration is encouraged, but fees are non-refundable.

Bubba Mims golf tournament

Porters Chapel Academy will host the 13th annual Bubba Mims Memorial Golf Classic April 26 at Vicksburg Country Club. The event is a four-man scramble and will begin with lunch at 11 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

The entry fee is $395 per four-man team and includes cart, beverages and lunch. All proceeds benefit Porters Chapel Academy. For more information, call Mark Buys at 601-636-3752.

Adult softball registration

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult men’s and women’s softball leagues will continue through April 17. Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation offices at 100 Army-Navy Drive, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The registration fee is $175 per team, with a $10 fee for Warren County residents and a $20 fee for players from Sharkey, Issaquena, Claiborne, and Hinds counties.

A mandatory coaches meeting will be held April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation office. All teams must have a representative at this meeting.
