Butler Football Camp registration

Registration for the third annual Malcolm Butler Football Camp will open Monday, April 17 and continue through May 1.

The camp is for boys in grades 8-12, and will be held July 15 at Memorial Stadium. The camp is free, but participation is limited and early registration is encouraged. Registration is available online only, at malcolmbutlerfootballcamp.org.

The camp will include instruction from New England Patriots cornerback and former Vicksburg High star Malcolm Butler and the VHS football coaching staff.

Learn to Swim registration

Registration for the 2017 American Red Cross Learn to Swim program will be held at City Pool, May 17-19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and May 20 from 10 a.m. until noon.

The program is for all ages, from 3 years old to adults, and the cost is $12 per student per two-week session. The sessions will run from June 5-16, June 26-July 8, and July 18-29, and the times of each class vary by age. Classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis and early registration is encouraged.

Registration must be made in person. Payment can be made with either cash or check made payable to the City of Vicksburg. All payments are due at the time of registration.

Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday the Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association hosted its April Retirees Scramble. Top Honors went to the team of Linda McHann, Jerry Harmon, Frank McGowan and Joe Tom. Second place went to Charlotte Crist, Robert Baudo, John Nelson and Rodney McHann. Third place went to Emily Bonelli, Cheri Williams, Del Cox, Brad Heisler and Eddie Roberson.

Cheri Williams and Keith Gordon hit the longest drives. Closest-to-Pin awards went to Joyce Johnson, Robert Baudo and Keith Gordon.

Play 2 Wynn camp

The 15th annual Play 2 Wynn Basketball Camp will be held June 19-23 at Vicksburg Junior High School, from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 6-16. The cost is $35 per day, or $100 for the week. The camp teaches basketball fundamentals and skills. For information, email Donna Brown-Wynn at dbrownwynn@gmail.com.

Bubba Mims golf tournament

Porters Chapel Academy will host the 13th annual Bubba Mims Memorial Golf Classic April 26 at Vicksburg Country Club. The event is a four-man scramble and will begin with lunch at 11 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
