Capt. Terry A. Braswell of Vicksburg passed away June 19, 2017, in Jackson. He was 61.

Retired riverboat captain, and the world’s best storyteller, he leaves behind a loving family and wide circle of friends, by whom he will be dearly remembered and sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mart Ballenger; and father, Willie Braswell.

He is survived by his mother, Bobbie Braswell; sisters, Shirley Waring and Bridgett DeGruy (Mark); daughters, Teri (Ted) and Pati; and grandchildren, Gauge, Tennessee, Magnolia, Shelby, Blayne-Joseph and Chevi Claire.

Services are 3 p.m. Saturday, June 24, in the chapel of Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will follow.

Pallbearers will be fellow members of the Vicksburg Cruisers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
