WC youth football camp

Warren Central will host its 2017 Youth Football Camp on Monday and Tuesday at the football fieldhouse and practice field. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day, with on-site registration held from 8:30 to 9 a.m. on Monday. The cost is $50 per camper, and the camp is for children ages 7-14.

The camp is non-contact, and will consist of two days of drills, techniques, and mechanics for each position in football. It will be run by the Warren Central football coaching staff.
Each participant will receive a T-Shirt and be recognized at Warren Central’s football game on Sept. 8 against Neville, La.

Summer tennis camp

The City of Vicksburg will host its annual free summer tennis camp throughout the summer at Halls Ferry Park. The lessons run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. each weekday, with a junior team tennis session following from 10 a.m. to noon.

The lessons are taught by City of Vicksburg tennis director Rick Shields, and assistants Ann-Stewart Piazza, George Wilkerson and Lauren Davis.

WC soccer camp

The Warren Central Lady Vikes Soccer Camp will be held June 26-29, at the front practice field at Warren Central High School.

The camp is for boys and girls in grades 1-6, and will run from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day. The cost is $75 per player before June 17, or $80 on the day of the camp. All campers must bring shinguards, cleats, tennis shoes and sunscreen.

Registration is available at Hobie’s Sports and Outdoors on Pemberton Blvd.

Braves tryout camp

The annual Atlanta Braves Tryout Camp is scheduled for July 6 at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the tryouts at 10. The annual event is free of charge and under the direction of Area Scout Supervisor Don Thomas.

All players must be between the ages of 16 and 22 to participate and are expected to furnish their own cleats, gloves and uniforms. There will be no exceptions. The Braves will provide any other necessary equipment.

USM volleyball camps

Southern Miss will host three volleyball camps for youth and high school players on its Hattiesburg campus this summer.

The first camp is July 11-13 and is for individual high school players. The second is a team camp July 14-16, and the last is a youth camp July 17-19.

The youth camp is designed for middle school students in grades 4-8. This camp will focus on beginner volleyball skills for individual and teams with the camp ending with a tournament.
