Valera Meacham Vollor

Valera Meacham Vollor departed this life July 15, 2017, at the age of 104.

She was born in Vicksburg Dec. 27, 1912. 

She was predeceased by her husband, William Joseph Vollor; her sons, the Rev. William Joseph Vollor Jr. and the Rev. John Cathel Vollor; her daughter, Valera Vollor Derivaux; one granddaughter, Michelle Derivaux; and one great-grandson, Donald Joseph Derivaux, Jr.

She is also predeceased by her parents, William Matthew Meacham and Jennie Kemper Meacham; her brothers, Kemper Meacham, Ty Meacham and Wayne Meacham; and her sisters, Merle Rodgers, Jeanette Middlebrooks, and Maude Wilson. 

She is survived by two sons, Timothy Wayne (Wanda) Vollor, and Frank Gallagher (Teri) Vollor; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She graduated from All Saints College and Mississippi College.  She was married for 24 years to William Joseph Vollor, and after the death of her husband, she taught second grade at St. Francis Xavier Academy.

She was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church and for many years she also helped prepare the children for their First Communion.

Valera moved to St. Catherine Village in 2004, where she continued to enjoy family visits and the prayerful community life of St. Catherine’s residents and staff.
