Suspects arrested for trying to sell murder weapon

Two men have been charged in the June 29 murder of Anderson White III.
Robert Harris and Xavier Clark each face capital murder and armed robbery charges and a $3 million bond.
Friday, two other individuals tied to the case, were arrested, and Monday faced Municipal Judge Penny Lawson in a preliminary hearing.
Deangelo Fields, 20, and Patrick Chambers, 19, were each charged with accessory after the fact of a capital murder for trying to sell the suspected weapon used in White’s murder.
Lawson levied both suspects with $1.5 million bonds.
Details on the attempted sale of a 9 mm handgun were not available.
White was shot during a robbery the night of June 29. However, police responding later in the evening to a call of shots fired in the area of Military and Roosevelt Avenue found no activity.
About 10:45 a.m. June 30, officers returned to the area after a vehicle was found crashed into a road sign indicating a wreck had occurred. Investigators found biological evidence at the scene, indicating a crime may have occurred, and after a search of the area, left the scene. Investigators were later able to determine the vehicle was last driven by White.
About 12:45 p.m. the same day, relatives and friends called E911 when they located White’s body in a wooded area in the 2000 block of Military Avenue.
Harris turned himself in at the Vicksburg Police Department about 3 p.m. June 30, and Clark was arrested later.
Fourth DUI
Steven Baker, 39, of Vicksburg, was arrested on July 23 at approximately 5 p.m. for what Vicksburg Police officials said was his fourth driving under the influence charge. He was stopped in the area of Drummond and Prospect streets.
Felon in possession
During a traffic stop due to a seat belt violation, 26-year-old John Shelby was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm after a handgun was discovered when authorities searched Shelby’s vehicle. The stop occurred July 29 in the 2200 block of Clay Street.
Guns stolen
A victim reported a 9 mm Beretta, valued at $600, was stolen from his vehicle on July 28 in the 3500 block of Pemberton Square Blvd.
Another victim reported a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun was stolen from his vehicle on July 29. The car was located on the 1100 block of Bowmar Avenue at the time of the theft.
