Larry Lee “DJ Sir Jam” McRaven, 57, passed at his home in Vicksburg on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ms. Alice McRaven; grandparents, Mr. Willie and Mrs. Viola McRavin; aunt, Ms. Addie B. McRavin; and uncle, Mr. Willie McRavin Jr.

Larry is a 1979 graduate of Vicksburg High School. He graduated from Utica Junior College and also attended Alcorn State University and Mississippi Valley State University.

He was employed by SOL Engineering as a construction inspector II.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, a son, Vincent Vio (Precious) McRaven of Vicksburg; daughter, Leslie Cinclair McRaven of Vicksburg; three grandsons, RaShuan, Jayden, and Cameron McRaven of Vicksburg; his devoted and lifelong special friend, Melva Houston; sister, Chilindia McRaven of Houston; two brothers, Tony McRaven of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and Kelvin (Ayumi) McRaven of Honolulu; aunt, Dr. Martha McRavin-Oliver of Jackson; cousin, Della M. Taylor Green; other relatives; and numerous friends.

Services will be Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Greater Grove Street M.B. Church, 2715 Alcorn Drive, Vicksburg.

Family hour will be Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, 6 to 7 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home, 2102 Clay St., Vicksburg. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg.
