BRANDON — Barbara “Susie” Harmon Hays, 64, of Brandon passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 400 Grants Ferry Road, Brandon, with the Rev. Warren Coil officiating.

Visitation will be noon until the time of the memorial service.

After the service, please join the family for a celebration of Susie’s life at her home, 469 Wimbledon Drive, Brandon, Mississippi 39047.

Susie was born in Vicksburg to Ethyl D. Harmon Jr. (Ed) and Cordelia Stephens Harmon (Corky) on Nov. 21, 1952.

Susie attended Cooper High School and graduated in the class of 1970. She worked as a customer service representative for BancorpSouth for 11 years.

She was involved in the Vicksburg Junior Auxiliary, Antique Club, Town and Country Garden Club, Sunrise Bible Study and numerous charities. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, bridge, swimming and spending time with her family and friends.

Susie is preceded in death by her father, Ed Harmon; mother, Corky Harmon; and brother, Edward (Steve) Harmon.

Susie is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Hays of Brandon; daughter, Shelly Abernathy of Brandon; daughter and son-in- law, Kacey and Stephen Gaia of Oxford; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Caroline Hays of Austin, Texas; and son, Aaron Hays of St. Louis, Mo. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Logan (Ryan) Burt, Gage Horton, Madeleine Gaia, Andrew Abernathy, Jack Gaia, Wes Gaia, Jacob Abernathy, and Heidi Hays; and one great-grandchild, Mason Burt.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Karen Huifang Lu with the MD Anderson Cancer Center and Dr. Mildred Ridgway with Gynecologic Oncology of University Mississippi Medical Center.
