Water service downtown between Clay and South streets has been shut down while city water mains crews replace a valve on a service line on Walnut Street.

Water mains supervisor Dane Lovell said the line serves the Mississippi River Commission building, and the crew had to shut off a section of the main waterline in the area to replace the valve. He said the repairs are expected to be completed by this evening.
