Hubert Willis Simons

Hubert Willis Simons died Friday, Jan. 12, 2018. He was 84.
Mr. Simons was born in Columbus Junction, Iowa, to the late Hubert Nixon and Viola Beaman Simons. He spent most of his childhood and teenage years in Oquawka, Ill. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Simons had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1974. He was a member of the American Legion and had served as a volunteer with Senacor. He retired from A&P after 30 years in management.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Simons was preceded in death by a brother, Orville Simons and two sisters, Ann Seitz and Vallene Smith.
Mr. Simons is survived by his wife of 61 years, Myrl Brown Simons; his children, Dawn Standridge (Randall) of Russellville, Ark.; Owen Simons of Vicksburg; Jay Simons of Russellville, Ark.; Kelli Gonyea (Bill) of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Troy Simons of Chicago, Ill.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Riles Funeral Home.
