The drawdown and silent auctions serve as VCS’s largest annual fundraiser as more than 700 people are expected to attend the event.

Tickets to the event cost $125 and admit two people. The tickets come with a chance to win the $10,000 grand prize, a buffet dinner, four mixed drink tickets and complimentary beer and wine.

The event also includes a silent auction with items ranging from jewelry, sports memorabilia and weekend vacation packages up for sale.

The drawing starts at 6:30 p.m. and the winner will be determined around 10 p.m.

“Your ticket that you purchase has a number on it,” Kristi Smith, VCS development director, said. “The numbers are put in a giant bin and numbers are continually drawn throughout the night. The last person in the bin wins the $10,000. There is a giant drawdown board with all the numbers from one to 550. We sell 550 tickets.”

Ticket insurance can also be purchased for $25, which guarantees your ticket will not be one of the first 50 tickets drawn. Tickets for a separate $2,500 drawing can also be purchased for $25.

The event started in 1983 and was originally held in the school’s gymnasium. In the years since, it has outgrown its original location and has been held at various locations throughout town.

“It is a tradition and it is a favorite,” Smith said. “ I think the community enjoys it. A lot of people who went to Vicksburg Catholic School attend the event, but we also have people from the community who never attended the school and enjoy the event and getting out.”

Attire for the event is casual. Tickets can be purchased online at www.vicksburgcatholic.org, by clicking on “About VCS” and then “Development”, or in either school office.
