Run Thru History

Registration is now open for the 39th annual Run Thru History, a 10-kilometer run and 5-kilometer race walk in the Vicksburg National Military Park. The race is scheduled for March 3 at 8 a.m.

The entry fee is $30 for the run and walk. The children’s 1-mile fun run that follows those events is free. There is also a 10K team event for five-person teams and the Cannonball Challenge for elementary school classes.

Registration is available online at runthruhistory.org, or at the Purks YMCA. Corporate and civic teams are also welcome. In addition to the running events, this year’s Run Thru History will include a historical re-enactment and a post-race bus tour of the VNMP.

WC volleyball tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s varsity volleyball team will be held March 29 and 30 at Warren Central High School. All players must have a current physical, parental permission form, residency form and a concussion form and attend both days of the tryouts.

There will be a parents’ meeting for all prospective players on March 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Warren Central library.

VHS volleyball tryouts

Tryouts for Vicksburg High’s volleyball team will be held March 19-21 at Vicksburg Junior High, at 4:30 p.m. each day. The tryouts are for players in grades 6-11. VHS basketball camp

Vicksburg High’s girls basketball team will host a skills camp March 10 at Vicksburg Junior High. The camp is for players in Grades 5-9 and the cost is $30 per player. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., followed by a session for players in Grades 5 and 6 at 10 a.m. and another for players in Grades 7-9 at 2 p.m. For more information, email VJHS assistant coach DeAndre King at coachking1212@gmail.com

Zeke West Bass Tournament
The 10th Annual Zeke West Team Bass Tournament is scheduled for March 3 at Lake Bruin State Park, from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The registration fee is $100 per boat, with an optional big bass entry fee of $10 per person. First place is a guaranteed $1,500 prize, and additional prizes will be paid for second through fifth places based on the number of entries. All fishermen are required to have live wells and running lights inspected.
