St. Al tops Cathedral in tennis

St. Aloysius’ tennis team started its season with a bang Monday, beating Catholic school rival Cathedral 8-1 in Natchez.
The Flashes only dropped a total of three sets in their nine matches. Chris Albert in boys singles, Miles Harris and Adam Eckstein in No. 1 boys doubles, and Ashley Jarrett and Logan Young in No. 2 girls doubles all won 6-0, 6-0.
Adrienne Eckstein and Natalie Jones both won their girls singles matches, and Ethan Naron won in No. 2 boys singles. In doubles, Carson Collier and Parker Brown won a three-set boys match 6-2, 3-6 (10-3), while Ann-Stewart Piazza and Elise Piazza cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory in No. 1 girls doubles.
St. Al will play twice more this week, Thursday at Hillcrest Christian in Jackson and Friday at home against Park Place Christian.
Friday’s match will begin at 4 p.m. at Halls Ferry Park.
