Pearl Eunice Gilchrist Smith

Pearl Eunice Gilchrist Smith was born to the late Martin and Frances Gilchrist on Sept. 9, 1934, in Fayette.

She departed this life on March 7, in Huntsville, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Smith Sr.; parents, Martin and Frances Gilchrist; two sisters, Cubie Smith and Florida Anderson; three brothers, Martin Gilchrist, Charles Gilchrist, and Eunice Gilchrist; daughter and son-in- law, Lena Mae and David Tolliver Sr.; and one grandson, Derrick Collins.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Pearl (Leon) Nelson, Vicksburg, Mary (Denis) Washington, Texarkana, Texas, and Patricia (Reginald) Benson, Huntsville, Ala., and two sons, Peter (Ann Marie) Smith Jr., Kissimmee, Fla., and Kenneth (Cynthia) Jolly of Vicksburg. She also leaves to mourn four sisters, Runnae Dawson, Kansas City, Mo., Ruby Draper, Akron, Ohio, Clara Gilchrist, Cleveland, Ohio, and Ophelia Brown, Vicksburg; one sister-in- law, Henretta Smith, Vicksburg; a special nephew, Robert (Mary Helen) Hall, Vicksburg; one brother-in-law, George (Martha) Smith, Denver, Colo.; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; friends; and the Travelers Rest Church Family.

The funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at Travelers Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas E. Bernard officiating.

Visitation is Friday, March 16, 2018, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home from 1 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
