Lucy Stabler Harrel

Lucy Stabler Harrel died at home with her family Friday, March 16, 2018.
She was 84.
Born in Lower Peach Tree, Alabama, on Dec. 11, 1933, Mrs. Harrel was the daughter of Mary Robertson and David Portis Stabler.
Lucy graduated from Carr Central High School in Vicksburg in 1952. She worked for South Central Bell, Waterways Experiment Station, and later as co-owner of multiple businesses with her late husband, Henry Harrel. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Harrel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her two sisters, Irene Burns and Ann Green. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Harrel Sullivan (Chris), grandson, Hartley Sullivan, granddaughter, Sydney Sullivan, and her brother, Jimmy Stabler.
Lucy lived with her daughter’s family prior to her death. She brought much joy and love to their home, especially to her grandchildren, who adored their “CC.”
The family is grateful for the love and caring comfort provided by her many friends through the years, most especially while she lived at their home. They are also grateful to her nurse Lindsey Theobald, Dr. Lee Giffin, Dr. Murray Whitaker, Hometown Medical, Kindred Home Health, Mission Primary Clinic, People’s Drug Store, the loving members of First Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Tim Brown.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. The Rev. Tim Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Hills Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
