It’s springtime, so you know what that means: Warmer weather, flowers blooming, frequent showers and also pollen getting just about everywhere.

As residents of Vicksburg come home to find more and more pollen clinging to their cars and start feeling the affect it has on their allergies, many take a trip to the car wash to get it scrubbed clean.

This marks what is an extremely busy time for those car washes. Glenn Campbell, the owner of Pemberton Express Car Wash, said he welcomed the customers that pollen brought and said it always resulted in a boost in business for him.

“Even people with cars that sit in the garage still get pollen on them and come in,” Campbell said.

Pollen is just part of the jump in business this time of year, as Campbell said the change in weather leads to a lot of people coming to get their car washed. He said this is the busiest time of year for his business.

“People like to ride in a clean car when the weather’s nice, warmer weather,” Campbell said.

Pemberton Express Car Wash has tried to stay up to date with their equipment to keep up with the customer’s preferences and stay ready for this busy season. The business has been open more than 15 years, but they had renovations six months ago and added better washing equipment and vacuums.

“It had gotten antiquated, everyone had gone to the express with the free vacuums, so we had to either upgrade or get out of it,” Campbell said.

Campbell found modern equipment that cleans the car with more contact and less friction, and makes for a better clean overall.

“Once I decided to do it, I wanted to make sure we had the best equipment,” Campbell said.
