Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said officers from the sheriff’s office assisted the Port Gibson Police Department and Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office in a search for a man who had fled into the woods off of Jeff Davis Road Tuesday evening.

Pace said Warren County 911 was notified around 6 p.m. Tuesday that Port Gibson and Claiborne had been in pursuit of a Lexus Sedan when it crossed into Warren County on Highway 61.

The driver reportedly had a blowout of one of his tires near the intersection of Jeff Davis Road and Rule Road, where he abandoned the vehicle and fled into the woods.

Pace said Warren County Sheriff and Vicksburg Police K-9 units spent the majority of the night searching the woods for the suspect locating only an article of clothing, but never the suspect himself.
