Rough weather possible for this weekend

Warren County residents could be in for another round of severe weather this weekend, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
Another cold front is expected to cross the area beginning Friday bringing heavy rain, strong winds and a chance for tornadoes.
“There’s a possibility Friday evening going into Saturday morning,” said meteorologist Tony Hurt with the National Weather Service Office in Jackson. “Right now, it looks similar to last week. As far as this week, it would be somewhat of a greater tornado threat, but as of right now we’re still kind of expecting a wind and hail threat.”
He said officials at the Weather Service office would have a better idea of the tornado threat Thursday.
Hurt said the storms are expected to move into the area very late Friday night and into Saturday, with the rains clearing out by late Saturday afternoon or early Saturday evening.
“The only thing I would advise is there’s a possibility some of this timing could be slowed down just a bit,” he said. “That could delay the onsets and also delay everything moving out of the area.”
He said people can expect temperatures to drop after the front passes, but not as much as temperatures fell after the front went through last weekend, with lows in the lower 40s on Monday.
“It will be a long night for everybody,” Warren County Emergency Management director John Elfer said Wednesday. “Certainly by tomorrow we’ll have a better handle on this thing.
“People need to start making preparations now. Just as we saw last Friday night, these things can pop up quick and cause some damage. NOAA weather radios, Code Red, phone apps, and a way to get the alert, get the warning, and have adequate shelter.”
