Mamie Barnes

Funeral services for Mamie Barnes, 82, who died Friday, April 13, 2018, at her residence, will be noon Saturday, April 21, at Rohelia M.B. Church in Utica with the Rev. Earl Thompson officiating. Burial will be at the Church Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Barnes was a member and mother at Rohelia M.B. Church, member of the Women’s Ministry, treasurer of the Pastor’s Aide Committee, and a member of the Baptist Aide.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Barnes; her parents, Lottie Price Clark and Benton Ross Sr.; a son, Booker T. Barnes; a daughter, Patricia Ann Moore; six brothers, Dan Clark, Henry Chillis, Sidney Clark, Willie Andrew Clark, Benton Ross Jr. and Robert Henry Ross; and three sisters, Laura Mae Gooden, Jessie Mae Ross and Wilmer Jean Ross.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by a son, Robert Barnes of Vicksburg; four daughters, Maxine Barnes and Catherine Barnes, both of Utica, Cindy Thomas of Jackson, and Allison Barnes of Hinesville, Ga.; three brothers, Willie T. Clark, Charles Clark and Tommie Clark, all of Vicksburg; six sisters, Bobbie Jean Ross and Mittie Ann Ross, both of Saginaw, Mich., Evangelist Willie Mae Brown and Ester Jiles, both of Jackson, Alice Venyah of Irmo, S.C. and Louise Bracey of Pine Bluff, Ark.; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
