A Clinton man is being held without bail in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility accused of stealing an undetermined amount of cash from a register at the Vicksburg Walmart, 2150 Iowa Blvd.
Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said John Salvatore Digennaro, 29, 211 Grand Oak Blvd., Clinton, was captured by Clinton police after he tried to flee officers.
According to Edwards, Digennaro entered the Vicksburg Walmart about 9:30 a.m. Thursday and went to a cash register in the store. When the cashier opened the register, he pushed her away, grabbed money from the till and fled the store, getting into a red car and driving off.
A vehicle matching the getaway car’s description was later seen by Clinton police, who tried to stop it, leading to a chase that ended when the driver wrecked the car and fled from the scene on foot. He was later captured in Clinton.
